The Government of Lebanon: It is not logical to continue as a caretaker for a period of approximately 11 months

The Lebanese caretaker government headed by Hassan Diab confirmed that it is illogical to continue in the caretaker mission for a period of approximately 11 months, calling on the political forces to assume their national responsibilities.

This came in a statement by the caretaker government today, Wednesday, in response to a number of political leaders in Lebanon blaming the government for the consequences of the worsening crises in Lebanon, even though the government only continued its actual mission for nearly seven months before it submitted its resignation after the bombing. Beirut port on the fourth of last August, and since then it continues to conduct business until the formation of a new government.

The government made it clear in its statement that it continues to work hard while it is in a state of conduct of business, stressing its keenness not to enter into arguments with anyone, especially in light of the severe crisis that Lebanon is going through, and that its continuation in its work does not mean silence on its responsibilities and the burden of what it described as political and malicious practices. And the personal and the militia, which caused or contributed to this collapse that the Lebanese are paying the price for today - according to the statement.

The government added that it had fully carried out its duties before its resignation, and had put in place scientific plans that were hampered by what the government described in its statement as accounts and interests, despite the confirmation of the international financial bodies' importance and objectivity.

The caretaker government had issued a lengthy statement with the same content yesterday, Monday, in which it confirmed that the demand to activate its powers violates the constitution, stressing that it is not entitled to any powers except within the framework of the conduct of business after its resignation, and by obtaining binding parliamentary consultations that resulted in a president in charge of forming the government.

This came in response to a number of political leaders, including the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, who called in a televised speech last Sunday for the caretaker government to implement its decisions on its financial recovery plan, and to resume negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.

On the other hand, the political crisis in Lebanon continues due to differences over the formation of the new government assigned to form Saad Hariri, which revolves between President Michel Aoun and his political team, the Free Patriotic Movement headed by Representative Gibran Bassil on the one hand, and between Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and his political team in the current The future on the other hand, where Hariri adheres to forming a government of competencies devoid of customs and quotas to save Lebanon from the worsening economic crises, while the President of the Republic and his political team adhere to naming a number of ministers and sharing powers and competencies with the Prime Minister-designate.

As a result of the political crisis that has hampered the formation of a new government for more than eight months, the economic crisis that has led to living crises that reached its climax during the past days is exacerbated by the continuing great shortage of fuel, some essential commodities, medicine and infant formula.
