Russian Foreign Ministry: We will "solve" the preparatory issues for the Putin-Biden summit in Geneva

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that the ministry is currently solving the preparatory issues for organizing a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden, expected in Geneva next week.

"We are preparing for the summit in great detail. There are a number of issues at an advanced stage of development," Ryabkov said in statements carried by Russia Today news channel, adding that Russia hopes that the two (Russian and American) presidents will confirm during their summit their move forward in the field of strategic stability and stability. Bilateral relations between the two countries.

He explained, "We, as a state body, focus on issues in which we hope to move forward and record any progress. In the first place, I want to refer here to the issue of strategic stability."

He expressed his belief that it is impossible to stop in this area, pointing to the need to move forward in an orderly, methodical and orderly manner, noting that the Russian-American summit in Geneva will address the situation in Ukraine, and that Putin will inform his American counterpart of the reasons for the failure to settle the conflict in Donbass.

"I think that Biden will hear from us a clear explanation, why we consider all these calls and invitations from Washington and European capitals to Moscow, addressed to the wrong address. Russia is not a party to the terms of the Minsk agreements. Russia cannot be considered a party that should do something in this field," he added. .

The crux of the issue is Kiev's refusal to hold a direct dialogue with Donetsk and Luhansk."

He continued, “If the United States manages to transcend its beliefs and put the interests of resolving the issue above its interests, and over its efforts to satisfy, in some way, whoever controls Kiev at present, and in this case the agreement will be more fruitful; Otherwise, it will end up with no movement forward.

And he added, "I have no doubt that Biden will hear from us a comprehensive and clear explanation of what happened, the reasons for the failure of the move towards a settlement, who bears responsibility for it, and what is the role of the United States in this matter."

Ryabkov noted that the role of the United States in the conflict in southeastern Ukraine is "devastating", and there is no indication that things are changing for the better under US President Joe Biden.
