The Somali army announced the killing of a prominent leader and 30 members of the extremist Al-Shabaab movement in a military operation, in the Warta Jelabel area in the Middle Shabelle Governorate.
The Somali army spokesman, Colonel Ali Hashi, confirmed - in a statement reported by the Somali News Agency - today (Friday) - that the objective of the operation is to eliminate the fighters of the terrorist Al-Shabaab movement, explaining that the army also managed to liberate several villages that were in the hands of the rebels.
He pointed out that the Somali army was able to liquidate a prominent leader and 30 members of the Al-Shabab militia linked to Al-Qaeda, as a result of the military operation.
