Learn about Imposter Syndrome, its main symptoms, and how to get rid of it?

Imposter syndrome is a rare psychological disease that depends on self-doubt, and it is difficult to diagnose it from the first time, as a person may not feel that he has it and needs appropriate treatment.

According to a report published on the Healthline website, a person with Imposter Syndrome always feels that he is a person with limited capabilities and whose intelligence is very little compared to those around him, although he may be smarter than them, and people with it always feel that their success in a task or obtaining a certain status was by coincidence. It is not for their excellence and competence to work.

It is also called Imposter Syndrome, also known as the imposter phenomenon, where the individual believes that his accomplishments are illusory, and it will be revealed as a fraud, and here the top performers feel that their success was by chance.

Among the most prominent signs of imposter syndrome are:

1. Self-doubt

Individuals with self-esteem issues tend to be suspicious of themselves, and feel that their thoughts and opinions will not be good enough, but rather tend to believe that everything they achieve is not done through their own efforts.

2- perfectionism:

People with it seek to focus on perfection in any task, and to focus on the little details to ensure a high level of competence for the task.

3- Doubt:

Confronting permanent self-doubt along with a feeling of inadequacy in any situation, and the belief that it occurred due to luck or fate, as well as reducing the importance of the moments of victory by linking them to external factors.

4- Exposure to fear:

Feeling anxious about others, and their evaluation of the accomplishments and tasks with which they assess people with this syndrome.

5- Rejecting opportunities:

Refusing or avoiding a risk due to fear of incompetence in the job, task, or activity.

Experts emphasized that Imposter Syndrome affects both men and women, which has recently increased with the spread of social media, as this phenomenon has affected many of us.

Awareness is the first step in treating people with this syndrome, it is necessary to realize the value of yourself first and the effort you make so that you feel satisfied with any achievement you achieve, and it is necessary to gain confidence in the achievements that you have been able to achieve, reconcile with the truth of your faults and work to fix them.
