The American Associated Press said that the major gaps in the rates of corona vaccine reception in the United States are of concern to health experts in the country. The agency indicated that while a large number of people poured in to receive the second dose of the Corona vaccine in the state of Massachusetts, as it is close to achieving its goal of vaccinating more than 4 million people, in the southern states, some vaccination centers were closed due to the decline in severe demand for the vaccine.
After a month of making the Corona vaccine available to all adults in the United States, a geographic pattern appeared in the issue of vaccination, as the highest rates of vaccination were concentrated in the Northeast, the lowest rates were concentrated in the South. Experts say the gap reflects many factors, including political leanings, religious beliefs, education levels and income.
Nearly 160 million Americans, 48% of the population, have received at least one dose of the Corona vaccine, and 125 million have been fully vaccinated against the Corona virus.
The agency stressed that closing the gap is vital to controlling the virus that has killed 588,000 people in the United States, according to health experts. The increase in vaccination has reduced infections in the United States to its lowest rate since last June, about 30,000 cases per day on average, and reduced deaths to 570 per day, at an unprecedented level since last July.
Low vaccination rates leave room for the virus to spread and re-emerge in new strains, says Tara Kerik Seal, a senior scientist at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. She emphasized that high vaccination rates are important for controlling the disease, especially during the fall and winter season.
