The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said floods caused by torrential rains across Somalia have affected 400,000 people in 14 districts since late April.
The office said - in a statement reported by the Somali News Agency, today, Saturday - that about 101,300 people affected by the floods have been displaced from their homes, pointing out that partners at the humanitarian level have increased aid to reach at least 82,000 affected people.
The statement of the UN office came hours after the visit of Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Robley to the city of Jowhar, where he confirmed that the federal government will work on a strategy to mitigate the effects of permanent floods in the country and find a permanent solution to this problem.
It is noteworthy that at least 25 people were killed in heavy rains in many parts of Somalia.
