Portugal tied 0-0 against Spain in preparation for Euro 2020


Spain and Portugal tied 0-0 in the friendly match between the two teams, on Friday evening, at the "Wanda Metropolitano" stadium of Atletico Madrid, as part of their preparations for the European Nations Cup "Euro 2020".


The Spanish team was the best party during the events of the first half, and its players posed a threat to the European goal of Brazil.


The referee canceled a goal for Portugal in the 23rd minute, scored by defender Jose Fonte, for a foul against the Spain defender.


In the second half, the Portugal team became active and was the most threatening to the goal, especially through star Cristiano Ronaldo, but the two teams failed to score any goals and the match ended in a draw.


And the local authorities in Madrid allowed the attendance of about 15,000 fans for today's match, as it became the first match to be held in Madrid in the presence of fans in more than one year, in light of the prevention of large gatherings due to the Corona virus pandemic.


Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte made his first international appearance for Spain, after he refused to play for the French national team.


It is expected that Spain will face Lithuania on Tuesday in the last test before the Euro, while Portugal will meet Israel on Wednesday.


The friendly match also witnessed the official announcement of the Spanish Football Federation of its candidacy with its Portuguese counterpart in order to bid to host the 2030 World Cup.
