A Chinese city deploys 60 drones to keep people indoors and educate them about Corona

Chinese authorities have deployed a fleet of 60 drones in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou to keep people indoors and remind those who go out to wear masks, as China has largely eliminated local COVID-19 transmissions, but Guangzhou has seen an outbreak of the most contagious delta strain type of The virus, which was initially discovered in India.

Six new cases were reported in Guangzhou in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of outbreaks to more than 100. Police-operated drones carry cameras and send messages to people venturing outside that staying indoors is best for themselves and others.

The drones are adding an already intensive measure of surveillance, including mobile health confirmations, temperature checks and quarantines for those who live in or travel to areas where infection risk is considered high.

Guangzhou has quarantined many neighborhoods, restricted travel outside the city and the surrounding province and closed movie theaters and other indoor entertainment venues.

Earlier, the Chinese National Health Commission announced that more than 763 million doses of emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines had been used in vaccination across China until June 6.

This was reported by the Chinese news agency (Xinhua), noting that the city of "Guangzhou" in southern China called on its residents not to leave the city without necessity as a precautionary measure to confront the recent rise in corona infections.

The city's Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that those leaving the city must submit a negative DNA test result within 48 hours before leaving.
