Today, Tuesday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics issued the preliminary data for the production index for the manufacturing and extractive industries for the month of March 2021.
The benchmark for the manufacturing and extractive industries (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) was 116.84 during the month of March 2021 (preliminary) compared to 104.09 during February 2021 (final), an increase of 12.25%.
The index for the beverage industry was 235.80 during March 2021 compared to February 2021, when it reached 199.75, an increase of 18.04% due to the increase in demand for beverages due to the arrival of the summer season. The index for the manufacture of chemical materials and products reached 116.85 during March 2021 compared to February 2021 when it reached 97.35, up by 20.03%, to meet market needs due to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic.
The industry benchmark for computers, electronic and optical products, and medical devices reached 105.90 during March 2021 compared to February 2021, reaching 133.66, a decrease of 20.77%, due to market conditions and stock availability.
The index for the industry of machines and equipment not classified elsewhere reached 192.68 during March 2021 compared to February 2021, reaching 207.86, a decrease of 7.31%, due to the market situation.
The authority updated the index methodology using the base year 2012/2013 and at the level of industrial activity indices according to the Industrial Activity Index (ISIC Rev.4) and using the monthly index (producer prices based on 2012/2013).
