Lebanon foils the smuggling of 60 kg of hashish through Beirut International Airport

On Friday, the Lebanese authorities managed to thwart the smuggling of nearly 60 kilograms of hashish through Beirut International Airport, which was destined for the Netherlands.

The "National News Agency" reported that the customs department detachment at Rafik Hariri International Airport managed to seize approximately 60 kilograms of hashish hidden within copper ornamental tools, in an attempt to export it to the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.

This comes within the framework of strict measures led by the Internal Security Forces in Lebanon to combat drug smuggling.

Saudi Arabia had seized a shipment of drugs hidden inside vegetables and fruits coming from Lebanon, and announced last April that it had banned the entry of fruits and vegetables from Lebanon or transporting them through its territory until the relevant Lebanese authorities provided guarantees to stop drug smuggling operations into Saudi Arabia.
