Continued postponement of the application of the new prices for foreigners visiting fees


The Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, headed by Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, held a meeting at the Ministry's headquarters in Zamalek, where Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, began the session by reviewing the work of a number of archaeological projects, which are scheduled to open during the next few months. These include the restoration projects for the southern cemetery in the Saqqara antiquities area, the Muhammad Ali Palace in Shubra, the al-Tanbugha al-Mardani mosque in historic Cairo, and the Al-Jeddawi Agency in the city of Esna. It was also agreed during the session that the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion would promote these imminent openings.

 

In its session, the Council also agreed to continue to postpone the application of the new prices for foreigners ’visit fees to archaeological sites and museums until May 2022, in continuation of the ministry’s policy of supporting cultural tourism and linking it to coastal tourism, and working to attract more inbound tourism to it by encouraging one-day trips from the Red Sea cities.
