Iraqi President Barham Salih discussed, during a phone call, with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, developments in Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, and the inhumane violations and attacks that the Palestinian people are exposed to by the Israeli occupation forces.
The Iraqi President affirmed, according to the Iraqi National Agency, the steadfast position of his country, the people and the government, towards the Palestinian cause, and standing by the brotherly Palestinian people in achieving their aspirations in their independent state and obtaining their full legitimate rights.
He stressed the need for joint and effective work in order to end this suffering, protect the rights of the Palestinian people and prevent the attacks they are subjected to, condemning the oppression against the Palestinian people, and the intimidation of unarmed worshipers on the Temple Mount, as well as the need to stop provocative acts and targeting civilians, which are contrary to rights. Human and international law.
For his part, the Palestinian President briefed his Iraqi counterpart on the latest developments in Jerusalem and the violations against its Palestinian people, expressing his appreciation for Iraq's stances regarding the rights of the Palestinian people and their just cause.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also discussed, during a phone call he made today, Wednesday, with Jordanian King Abdullah II, the dangerous developments that the city of Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip are going through.
The Palestinian News Agency reported that the two sides also discussed the criminal attacks of the occupation forces against worshipers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and the dangerous and unacceptable Israeli escalation currently taking place on the Gaza Strip.
It was also agreed to continue coordination and joint consultations, to work to stop the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people.
The two sides exchanged congratulations, on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Fitr.
