The critic and art historian Mahmoud Qassem said that the director and writer of any work have the right to put their artistic vision in it even if the work is based on a historical event, and we must separate the dramatic work from history.
Mahmoud Qassem added, during a telephone conversation with the media Qaswaa Khalali in the program "Evening with Qaswa" broadcast on "TeN" satellite channel, that we have to judge the series "The King" by the star Amr Youssef after watching the work and not after watching the promo, explaining that the work differs. From what was mentioned in Naguib Mahfouz's novel "A Good Struggle", because the novel depicts Ahmose at the age of seventeen, but the work depicts him showing his hero of forty.
The critic Mahmoud Qassem explained that the one who deserves appreciation in the film "The Mummy" is the director of photography, Abdel Aziz Fahmy, not the director Shady Abdel Salam, because the film's creativity and the audience's connection to it came from the ingenuity and accuracy of the photography and showing the image of the work, indicating that Shady Abdel Salam deserves appreciation, but he is not the greatest. Youssef Shaheen was more loyal than him.
